Job summary

Zūm Services, Inc. is seeking a maintenance technician to ensure the fleet of school buses remains in safe, optimal operating condition.

You will determine required repairs and maintenance in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Responsibilities include diagnosing malfunctions, performing repairs, test-driving vehicles, arranging inspections, and maintaining a safe workspace while complying with all laws and guidelines.

Qualifications

• Two to four years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
• Diagnostics, Electrical, and AC skills required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs (steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking, drive trains, suspensions, transmissions, etc.) to qualification level.
• Test-drive vehicles to verify repair.
• Arrange inspections and approvals for major repairs before release.
• Maintain a safe, clean, productive work area complying with regulations.
• Identify and report additional maintenance needs during repairs.
• Record time, parts used, and repairs on the appropriate forms.
• Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
• Advise Lead Technician of unsafe conditions or vehicle abuse.

As a maintenance technician at Zūm, you will help ensure that Zūm's fleet of school buses is kept in safe and optimal operating condition, by determining required repairs and maintenance in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs (e.g. adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions and oil, temperature, gas regulating components, adjust/test/rebuild engines, etc.) and related assigned duties within qualification level, following all relevant. Federal, State/ and local guidelines and requirements.
• Test-drive vehicles to ensure repair resolved the problem.
• Arrange for and obtain appropriate inspections and approval of all major repairs before the vehicle is released from the maintenance facility.
• Maintain a safe, clean, productive, and efficient work area including ensuring the work area complies with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial, and local guidelines and requirements.
• Identify and report any additional maintenance and/or repairs found necessary in conducting assigned repairs and maintenance including repairs and maintenance required to be performed by Technicians with a higher qualification level.
• Record time spent, parts used and repairs and/or maintenance conducted on the appropriate form.
• Perform road calls and on the road repairs as assigned.
• Advise Lead Technician of unsafe maintenance conditions or practices and/or vehicle abuse.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two to four years medium/heavy truck Fleet mechanic repair experience.
• Diagnostic, Electrical, and AC skills are a must.
• Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required.
• Have previous fleet experience and are familiar with diesel and gasoline systems.
• Possess the recommended minimum Hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
• Ability to use good judgment and Decision-Making skills.
• Valid applicable state license (CDL required).
• ASE Certification desirable but not required.
