SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This role requires advanced knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components, and systems related to heavy-duty and light-duty trucks. This includes gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems. Welding and fabrication skills may also be required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Technician will diagnose issues related to a fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles.
* Perform maintenance and repair on Mack, IHC, Autocar, Heil, McNeilus vehicles and equipment.
* Support coworkers in working safely and efficiently during maintenance and repairs.
* Complete all required paperwork accurately and promptly.
* Follow safety policies and procedures.
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
* Use vehicle computer systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
* Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
* Use Factory Service Manuals for repairs.
* Maintain high standards of ethics and dependability.
* Provide drive train, engine, and transmission inspections, diagnoses, and repairs.
* Assess structural damage and determine necessary repairs.
* Guide and assist shop technicians.
* CDL Class B preferred or ability to obtain one.
* Ability to obtain 7 ASE Certifications or equivalent within 36 months.
* 3-5 years of hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of medium-duty Class 8 vehicles, preferably in waste/recycling industry.
* Understanding of OSHA safety requirements.
* Proficiency with computers for data tracking and communication (e.g., Microsoft Office).
No CDL required.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Attend and participate in company-sponsored training courses as assigned.
* Stay updated on current technology used by Waste Pro.
* Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

* Physical activities include walking, jogging, twisting, crouching, lifting, and working in extreme temperatures.
* Ability to lift 50-75 pounds, push/pull 50 pounds, and perform repetitive bending, reaching, and twisting.
* Work involves getting in and out of vehicle cabs multiple times daily and working in various weather conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily indoor and outdoor settings with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
