Job summary

FleetPride is seeking a Diesel Technician III in Houston to master preventive maintenance, diagnose vehicle systems, and mentor junior technicians. The role covers major repairs, diagnostics and component replacement across heavy-duty trucks and trailers.

Applicants should have a Diesel Technology Associates degree and 7+ years of hands-on experience with Class 7 & 8 trucks, plus trailer repair exposure. Strong customer service and tool ownership are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction.
  • Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.
  • Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements.
  • Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).
  • Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, PTOs and custom exhaust systems.
  • Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines.
  • Overhaul, troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines.

The Technician III will perform all major and advanced adjustments, repairs and component replacements.
