Job summary

FleetPride is seeking a skilled Technician III to perform preventative maintenance and complex repairs on class 7 & 8 trucks and 53’ trailers in a non-climate controlled shop in the United States. You will apply advanced diagnostics, train junior technicians, and ensure high-quality service on every order.

Applicants should have a Diesel Technology degree and 7+ years of experience with heavy-duty fleets. The role offers weekly pay, potential monthly bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package

Qualifications

• Must have strong customer service skills and safety awareness.
• Experience training or mentoring other technicians is valued.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate in a non-climate controlled shop.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and determine repairs needed.
• Train new shop employees on procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
• Repair brakes, suspensions, electrical, engine, fuel systems and exhaust components.
• Perform test drives and diagnose vehicle system failures.

The Technician III will perform all major and advanced adjustments, repairs and component replacements. Perform advanced diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose vehicle system failures and suggest accurate system repairs.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESExamine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s)Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements.Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, PTO”S and custom exhaust systems.Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines.Overhaul, troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines.Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks, fifth wheels, trailer hitches, pintle hooks, auxiliary axles and frames.Perform tandem alignment, front axle king pin and bushing repairs.Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.Review service story provided by service writers and determine tasks that need to be accomplished in order for the order to be completed in a timely manner.File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment and trim to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders.Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.Maintain a clean and organized workspace.Other duties assigned.EDUCATION & TRAININGDiesel Technology Associates degree7 + years of experience with class 7 & 8 trucksExperience repairing 53’ trailersKNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCETraining experienceDiagnostic experienceWelding experienceSKILLS & ABILITIESMust provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.Maintain perfect safety recordAbility to train of TechniciansStrong customer service skillsAbility to lift 50lbsWORK ENVIRONMENT Non-climate controlled shopThe annualized pay ranges vary based on work location. The salary range for this position is $19.00 – $40.00 per hour, based on experience, skills, and qualifications. Additional Compensation: This position may be eligible for monthly bonuses.
