Job summary

North America Central School Bus is seeking a Diesel Technician to maintain and repair school buses and fleet vehicles in Milwaukee, WI. The role emphasizes safety, FMCSA/DOT compliance, and ongoing adoption of EV maintenance practices.

You will perform diagnostics, tune engines, service electrical systems, manage parts inventory, and mentor junior technicians while contributing to a team-focused environment with competitive pay and sign-on incentives.

Qualifications

  • Experience in diesel engine repair and vehicle maintenance.
  • Familiarity with FMCSA and DOT safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Leadership skills and willingness to train others.
  • Technical certification or ASE preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and overhaul school buses and fleet vehicles per FMCSA guidelines.
  • Champion the adoption of cutting-edge EV maintenance practices and technology.
  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance.
  • Tune engines, align wheels, and maintain electrical systems to meet DOT standards.
  • Replace worn parts, change filters, and perform oiling/greasing.
  • Test drive vehicles post-repair to ensure safety and performance.
  • Conduct minor bodywork and repainting as needed.
  • Track parts usage, manage inventory, and order supplies.
  • Report safety concerns and corrective actions.
  • Mentor junior technicians and assist where needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
