Job summary

Zūm Services, Inc. in Omaha, NE is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to diagnose and repair medium/heavy trucks, including steering, electrical, braking, and diesel systems. You will test-drive vehicles and prepare them for inspections.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two to four years medium/heavy truck Fleet mechanic repair experience.
• Diagnostic, Electrical, and AC skills are a must.
• Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required.
• Have previous fleet experience and are familiar with diesel and gasoline systems.
• Possess the recommended minimum Hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
• Ability to use good judgment and Decision-Making skills.
• ASE Certification desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs (steering, electrical, cooling, brakes, drive trains, suspensions, engines, etc.).
• Test-drive vehicles to ensure the repair is complete.
• Arrange for and obtain inspections and approval of major repairs before release.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work area compliant with guidelines.
• Identify and report additional maintenance found necessary during repairs.
• Record time spent, parts used, and repairs conducted on forms.
• Perform on-the-road repairs as assigned.
• Advise Lead Technician of unsafe maintenance conditions or vehicle abuse.
