Job summary

Ryder in Chattanooga, Tennessee is seeking a mid-level Diesel Technician to join our maintenance team. The role involves diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty vehicles, performing preventive maintenance, and interacting with customers to determine issues.

A CDL and related certifications are preferred and pathways exist for obtaining required credentials. The position offers competitive hourly pay, bonus potential, and benefits including training, PTO, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Demonstrated aptitude in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
• Two years or more of classroom training and work experience preferred.
• CDL CLASS A preferred.
• Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools when applicable.
• Identifies root causes of failures and performs repairs.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
