Ryder System, Inc. in Jefferson, Louisiana is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician for a second shift. The role includes hands-on maintenance and repair of heavy-duty vehicles, with competitive hourly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Eligible candidates can receive bonuses for certifications, quarterly incentives, and tuition assistance. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and preferred CDL Class A with the ability to obtain within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including oil changes, brake and tire work.
• Two years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred.
• CDL Class A preferred; must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background checks for last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint once assigned a task.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Works in accordance with safety, DOT, MOT guidelines.
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations.
