Job summary

Republic Services invites aspiring technicians to join a two-year Technician Apprenticeship designed to teach diesel technology fundamentals in a hands-on environment. The program starts with nine weeks of paid training at the Dallas Technical Institute, followed by twenty-two months of on-the-job training across the fleet with mentorship.

Qualifications

• Logical problem solver with interest in engineering and technology.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including some nights/weekends/holidays.
• Willingness to travel to & live in Dallas, Texas for 9 weeks of in-person training.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks during apprenticeship.
• Learn electrical diagnosis of starting & charging systems, air conditioning, hydraulics, wheel end assembly, air system, and air brakes components.
• Complete on-the-job training and mentorship to progress toward Apprentice certification as a Republic Services entry level Diesel Mechanic.
