Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and diagnose vehicle mechanical components to identify issues.
- Overhaul and repair heavy-duty engines, clutches, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
- Install engines, transmissions, and other components in medium and heavy-duty trucks.
- Perform preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers.
- Complete technical reports and manufacturer-required documentation.
- Operate vehicles and equipment to verify performance or troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Replace worn or damaged mechanical parts.
- Rewire electrical and electronic systems as needed.
- Align machinery and equipment for optimal performance.
- Repair non-engine components of vehicles.
- Install parts, accessories, and components in vehicles.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
- Adhere to all safety, EPA, and internal control regulations.
- Complete work orders accurately and on time, ensuring proper labor and part charges.
- Tag warranty parts with accurate details.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Expectations:
- Handle fuels, diesel, brake fluids, and DEF.
- Perform tasks involving kneeling, climbing, crawling, and lifting.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and oil-resistant, closed-toe footwear.
- Operate forklifts (experience preferred).
- Lift up to 75 lbs unassisted.
- Perform repetitive motions, including bending and kneeling.
- Work comfortably in confined spaces, including under vehicles.
- Use ladders with three points of contact regularly.
- Understand and utilize diagnostic software.
Skills and Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 0-5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
- Strong diagnostic skills and problem-solving ability.
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong team player with reliable attendance.
- Ownership of basic hand tools (preferred).
- Eagerness to learn and grow in the field.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
