Job Title and Location

Mechanical Technician II (Direct Hire) — Lakewood, NY 14750

Duration: Direct Hire

Pay Range: $24/hour + shift differential

Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Technician II to support product functional testing at our Lakewood, NY facility. This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in an engine test cell environment. The role blends mechanical assembly with test system setup, data checks, and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and build test articles, fixtures, rigs, and related equipment for engine testing.
  • Install and maintain instrumentation per engineering standards to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Execute test plans, monitor tests, and perform initial troubleshooting of test facility and engine issues.
  • Conduct state-of-health checks on test stands, perform preventative maintenance, and maintain test cell organization/cleanliness.
  • Support instrumentation calibrations, data rationality checks, and quality control procedures.
  • Assist in diagnosing engine system issues, providing basic mechanical and diagnostic support.
  • Document test procedures, corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in team functions, meetings, and assist in updating work procedures.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in a STEM field preferred.
  • Experience: Some prior work experience in a mechanical/technical field. Intermediate mechanical knowledge gained through work, education, or training.
  • Skills Required:
  • Mechanical aptitude (experience working on cars, trucks, or diesel engines preferred).
  • Ability to connect/disconnect engines in a test cell environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and test system interface.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to safety and precision.
  • Preferred: Previous diesel mechanic or technician experience, knowledge of testing environments, MSSC or equivalent training.
  • Relocation Assistance: Available
  • Candidates must be reliable, flexible, and willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Hands-on mechanics experience (personal or professional) is highly valued.
