Join to apply for the Diesel Technician role at GFL Environmental Inc.
Under the guidance of shop leadership, conduct repairs and preventative maintenance on Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to keep GFL’s fleet safe and operational.
Essential Functions:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain GFL’s Diesel and CNG fleet under supervision.
- Perform basic inspections of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other parts.
- Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions and verify repairs.
- Perform electronic diagnostics and repair electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles.
- Complete reports, work orders, order parts, and handle administrative duties daily.
- Perform work as scheduled by shop supervision or senior technicians.
- Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with safety regulations.
- Must have a Brake safety certificate and 609 A/C system certification.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and related regulations.
- Effective communication skills across organizational levels and with external contacts.
- Ability to read and interpret safety and maintenance documents.
- Experience with diagnostic software preferred; computer literacy required.
- Class A or B CDL preferred or willingness to obtain within six months.
- ASE certifications preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, reaching, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Continuous mental and visual concentration.
- Visual requirements include various vision capabilities.
- Ability to operate trucks and equipment as needed.
- Proficiency in using computers and related devices.
