Job summary

Savannah Logistics Group is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician at our Minus Avenue location in Savannah, GA. You will inspect, maintain and repair diesel engines, using diagnostic tools and collaborating with a skilled team to keep our fleet moving.

Qualifications

  • Must have a good driving record and be over 21.
  • Vocational training in Diesel Mechanics or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in related field.
  • Proven knowledge of engine components.
  • ASE Certification a plus.
  • Experience working on Freightliner, Volvo, Mack and International Trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Make adjustments, alignments and repairs to correct vehicle deficiencies.
  • Conduct inspections, test drives, and diagnostic tests on fleet vehicles.
  • Test engine safety and combustion control standards to comply with regulations.
  • Record service and repairs to maintain accurate vehicle records.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and install part upgrades.
  • Collaborate with coworkers to complete repairs promptly.
  • Stay updated on industry advances through reading and forums.

Savannah Logistics Group has an immediate opening for a Diesel Technician for our Minus Avenue location. We are looking for an experienced Diesel Technician who can accurately inspect, maintain and repair diesel engines. You'll use computer software and your own knowledge of engines to diagnose issues and you'll work with our skilled team of technicians to keep our fleet moving America forward!

Diesel Technician Job Responsibilities:
  • Make various adjustments, alignments and repairs to correct any vehicle deficiencies
  • Conduct inspections, test drives, and diagnostic tests to determine the condition of our fleet vehicles
  • Test engine safety and combustion control standards to comply with federal and state vehicle requirements
  • Record service and repairs to maintain accurate vehicle records
  • Complete preventative maintenance, install part upgrades, check tires and suspension.
  • Follow operating instruction, troubleshoot breakdowns, maintain supplies, perform preventative maintenance and call for repairs to keep shop equipment operational
  • Collaborate with coworkers to get repairs done in a timely manner
  • Stay up-to-date on industry advances by reading publications, talking with peers, continuing education and joining industry-related forums
Diesel Technician Job Requirements:
  • MUST HAVE A GOOD DRIVING RECORD, BE OVER 21.
  • Vocational training in Diesel Mechanics or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in related field
  • Proven knowledge of engine components
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • ASE Certification a plus
  • Experience working on Freightliner, Volvo, Mack and International Trucks, Certification preferred
  • TWIC and CDL License a plus
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work with a team
