Job DetailsJob Location: Monroeville Freightliner Inc. - Monroeville , OH 44847Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $120,000.00 HourlyThe Diesel Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel engines and vehicles to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and longevity. This role requires strong diagnostic skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform maintenance and repairs efficiently, contributing to the safety and productivity of the fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of diesel engines and vehicles to identify issues and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and system checks to ensure peak vehicle performance.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using specialized diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Repair or replace engine components, electrical systems, and other mechanical parts to restore functionality.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors to minimize downtime and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve technical skills.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company standards while operating tools and equipment.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by clearly explaining repair processes, findings, and outcomes to clients.

QualificationsRequired Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a formal diesel technology or automotive program from a technical school or community college is preferred.
Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a diesel technician or in a similar role within the automotive industry.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proven track record of performing routine maintenance and inspections on diesel vehicles and equipment.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of diesel engine systems, including fuel injection, turbocharging, and exhaust systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to diesel engine maintenance and repair.
  • Physical capability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environmental conditions.
