Job summary

Mach10 Solutions is seeking an experienced bus maintenance technician in Milwaukee to perform comprehensive maintenance and repairs on gasoline and diesel buses. You will diagnose issues using Cummins Insite, Wabco, and Allison, perform engine/ transmission overhauls, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations while documenting labor and parts used.

The role requires at least 3 years of bus or medium-duty truck experience, a toolkit, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with buses or medium-duty trucks.
  • Experience in medium-duty bus maintenance; International Truck/Bus experience preferred.
  • Own a personal set of professional tools.
  • Understanding of pupil transportation codes and regulations (IDOT standards preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and complete projects on schedule.

  • Maintain and service vehicle air conditioning units.
  • Conduct DOT-compliant school bus inspections.
  • Document labor hours and materials used during repairs.

Job description

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 1st Shift

Working Hours: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm

Compensation: $26 to $35 per hour

Core Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive maintenance and essential repairs on both gasoline and diesel-powered buses.
  • Identify mechanical issues and execute a structured preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Complete full engine and transmission overhauls as needed.
  • Utilize diagnostic software such as Cummins Insite, Wabco, and Allison to troubleshoot complex vehicle issues.
  • Resolve after-treatment complications, including engine faults, knock sensors, and brake system HCU units.
  • Ensure the reliability of critical systems like air compressors, fuel delivery, ignitions, HVAC, and wheelchair lifts to keep vehicles operational.
  • Maintain and service vehicle air conditioning units.
  • Conduct thorough school bus inspections to ensure full compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Document all labor hours and materials utilized during the repair process.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with buses or medium-duty trucks.
  • Background in medium-duty bus maintenance, with a preference for International Truck/Bus experience.
  • Must possess a personal collection of professional tools.
  • Understanding of pupil transportation codes and regulations, such as IDOT standards, with a preference for candidates holding a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement and A/C certification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to foster effective interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet strict deadlines while delivering high-quality service with a professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks independently and ensure projects are completed on schedule.

Physical Demands:

  • Capacity to perform all essential job duties in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other regulatory standards while meeting productivity benchmarks.
  • Commitment to consistent and punctual attendance as a fundamental requirement of the role.
  • Proficiency in clear verbal communication, including telephone interactions.
  • Capability to lift and transport objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
