Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills and the ability to complete electronic work orders.
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure vehicles are properly maintained and safe for our passengers.
  • Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Complete brake repairs and inspections, engine tune-ups, suspension repairs, drivetrain work, transmission and clutch repairs, and other assigned services.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and vehicle-performance concerns.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately.
  • Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams to support fleet readiness.

First Student is now hiring a Diesel Technician for our Brockton, MA shop, supporting multiple school districts throughout the surrounding area! About the Position

As a Diesel Technician with First Student, you will maintain and repair school buses serving multiple school districts throughout the Brockton area. Your work will directly support the safety, reliability, and daily readiness of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure vehicles are properly maintained and safe for our passengers
  • Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance and repair
  • Complete brake repairs and inspections, engine tune-ups, suspension repairs, drivetrain work, transmission and clutch repairs, and other assigned services
  • Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and vehicle-performance concerns

  • Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable federal, state, and local requirements

Qualifications
  • At least three years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience, or an equivalent combination of technical school education and relevant hands-on experience
  • Strong vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CDL Class B or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment; company-paid training is provided
  • Mechanic’s tool set sufficient to complete assigned duties
  • Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program, with training, testing, and bonus opportunities provided
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to complete electronic work orders
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
