Qualifications

Role Description

The Diesel Technician role at Idealease is a full-time, on-site position based in Atlanta, GA. In this role, the technician inspects, diagnoses, and repairs diesel trucks, tractors, and trailers, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and related components. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, completing repair orders accurately, and using diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve mechanical and electronic issues. The technician collaborates with the service team to prioritize work, ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and maintains a clean and organized work area. This role also involves communicating clearly with supervisors and service advisors about vehicle status and repair recommendations.

Qualifications

• Strong diesel engine and heavy-duty truck repair skills, including experience with engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspensions.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, computerized systems, and technical manuals to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures, DOT regulations, and safety and compliance standards in the transportation industry.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, service manuals, and schematics, and to document repairs accurately.
• Relevant technical training or certification in diesel technology or heavy equipment repair; ASE certifications are a plus.
• Prior experience as a diesel technician or mechanic in a fleet, dealership, or commercial repair facility preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment, and to work in various shop conditions while following safety protocols.
