Job summary

Ryder Supply Chain Solutions in Amarillo, Texas is seeking a Mid-Level Diesel Technician to maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicles. You will work the first shift, with a Tuesday-Saturday schedule and a starting hourly pay of $25.00 plus certification and quarterly bonuses and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification post secondary degree or technical certifications, preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventive maintenance.
• Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience, preferred.
• Valid CDL CLASS A, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Performs facility maintenance duties.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint.
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Works in accordance with safety, DOT, MOT guidelines.
• Performs other support duties to support operations.

Hourly Pay

• Hourly Pay:$25.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: Ryder Pays you up to $500 Every Quarter - Four Times Per Year
• Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday
• Hours: First Shift Tuesday – Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred

• This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Important Note: Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
