Job summary

Crete Carrier Corporation in Wilmer, Texas, seeks an experienced Diesel Technician to diagnose and repair brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering, transmissions, drive trains, and tires on tractors, trailers, and refrigeration equipment.

You will perform preventative maintenance, read service manuals, and work from work orders while maintaining safety and quality. A valid driver’s license with CDL Class A preferred; tools required; shift 4pm–2:30am; full-time, regular schedule.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 1–2 years of related experience or training.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs brakes, engines, electrical systems, steering, transmissions, drivelines, and tires for tractors, trailers, and refrigeration equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance: oil changes, fluid checks, battery tests, lights, lubrication.
• Establishes and maintains positive working relationships.
• Receives and carries out instructions; maintains attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions, drive trains, and tires for tractors,
  trailers, and refrigeration equipment
• Performs preventative maintenance services, including changing oil, checking fluids, inspecting batteries, testing lights, and lubricating equipment
• Establishes and maintains positive working relationships
• Receives and carries out instructions
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair
• Excellent mechanical repair skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues
• Ability to read service and repair manuals
• Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion
• Ability to read work orders
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Associate degree; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
• Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 100lbs.
• Must be able to inspect vehicle to determine repairs needed
• Good vision to inspect repair work
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

• ASE certified and DOT inspection certified as required by supervisor
• EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 609 as required by supervisor and/or location
• EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 608 as required by supervisor and/or location
• Valid driver's license as required by supervisor, with CDL Class A driver's license preferred

OTHER

• Must have own tools
• Safety shoes (steel or composite toe) required
