Job summary

Ag-Pro is seeking a skilled Service Technician to independently diagnose, repair, and maintain agricultural and turf equipment, primarily John Deere products. The role includes mentoring trainees and ensuring accurate, timely work orders and documentation.

You will participate in customer clinics, maintain safe, organized work areas, and stay current with field knowledge and company procedures. A high school diploma is required; CDL is preferred for certain roles.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of service repair experience.
• Experience following Technical Manual procedures on machines in the technician's specialty.
• Experience with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems on off-road/heavy equipment.
• Experience using diagnostic tools and basic computer functions.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment.
• Mentor Service Technician Trainees and Technicians.
• Document diagnostics and repairs thoroughly and submit on time.
• Operate and maintain shop tools and vehicles safely.
• Follow safety rules and maintain a clean work area.

Job description

Purpose Independently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment. May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Service Location Manager, or Shop Foreman.

Responsibilities Performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technologyMentors Service Technician Trainees and Service TechniciansConducts or supports customer clinicsAccountable for billable time and assigned work ordersResponsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on time submittal of informationMay participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledgeOperates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilitiesMaintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashionFollows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignmentsMaintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge

• 3+ years of experience performing service repairs; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred
• Experience performing repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures on machines of the Technicians specialty
• Experience with the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in off road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment
• Experience operating tools and equipment for diagnostic purposes
• Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred
• Experience working cooperatively in a team environment
• Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing
• Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs repeatedly
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
• Valid drivers license required; CDL (Commercial Drivers License) preferred
