Job summary

The Mechanic I position at Plug Power Inc. in Lafayette, Indiana, is an hourly, non-exempt role focused on fabrication, assembly, debug, testing and troubleshooting of diesel system mechanical components.

You will collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve issues quickly. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma with 2–5 years in a similar role, strong teamwork, and ability to read drawings, weld with MIG/TIG, and troubleshoot electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 2-5 years of similar experience.
• Working knowledge of data collection and statistics.
• 2-5 years' experience with commercial trailers with pony motors.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Uncompromising dedication to quality.

• Must be driven and self-motivated.
• Teamwork oriented and focused.

Responsibilities

• Install mechanical parts and sheet metal assemblies using basic machine shop tools.
• Weld aluminum, carbon and stainless steel using MIG & TIG.
• Assemble and troubleshoot 12-volt electro-mechanical systems.
• Debug and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic mechanical systems.
• Communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
• Read mechanical part drawings a plus.
• Performs other related duties as assigned
