Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company (MHC Kenworth) is seeking a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic in Little Rock, AR to perform heavy-duty repairs and routine maintenance with hands-on training toward journeyman status. You’ll work on engines, fuel and electrical systems, transmissions, and brakes under supervision.

The role requires vocational training or 3+ years of hands-on experience, CDL preferred, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• CDL preferred and hands-on mechanical experience required.
• Certifications in A/C, brake work and DOT inspections are expected.
• Must bring necessary tools to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform general mechanical duties and heavy-duty repairs under supervision.
• Work on engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions and brakes.
• Attend training, maintain safe workspace, and escalate needs to supervisor.

Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic. The role of the Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic performs heavy-duty mechanical repair under general supervision, receiving on the job training in a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status.

• Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical duties.
• Gains experience by working on the following items with minimal supervision: engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-up, and general maintenance.
• Works on major components with close supervision.
• Performs trouble shooting on minor problems.
• Attends training sessions and meetings.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
• Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
• Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeks assistance when necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• CDL preferred.
• Minimum three years hands-on experience or graduate of vocational courses.
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
