Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck dealership group. We are seeking a Diesel Service Journeyman / Mechanic to perform skilled, high-quality repairs on heavy‑duty trucks under minimal supervision and to support our service team in Fort Mill, SC.

You will diagnose major problems, train Apprentice Technicians, maintain an orderly shop, and communicate clearly with customers and the Service Foreman.

Qualifications

• CDL required; A/C, Brake and DOT Inspector certifications.
• Min 4 years' experience or vocational training.
• Must possess necessary tools and strong customer relations.
• One specialization (engine or drive train) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled and complicated mechanical work on heavy-duty truck equipment with minimal supervision.
• Troubleshoots major problems and clarifies repair scopes with the Service Foreman.
• Mentors Apprentice Technicians and maintains an organized work area.
• Ensures proper handling of company tools and maintains customer relations.
• Participates in training to stay current with new technology.

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Diesel Service Journeyman / Mechanic. The role of the Diesel Service Journeyman / Mechanic performs all functions of a fully qualified heavy-duty truck repair Technician under minimal supervision.

• Performs skilled and complicated mechanical work on heavy-duty truck equipment and related components with minimum supervision.
• Performs trouble shooting on major problems.
• Works with and helps train Apprentice Technicians.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
• Advises the Service Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
• Maintains favorable relations with customers.
• Participates in training to stay abreast of new technology.
• Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
