Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC, the largest Kenworth dealership group in North America, is hiring a Diesel Service Journeyman/Mechanic in Chattanooga. You will perform skilled heavy-duty truck repairs with minimal supervision and troubleshoot complex issues.

You will train apprentices, maintain a clean work area, and communicate clearly with customers and the Service Foreman. This role emphasizes safety and ongoing training in advanced technology.

Qualifications

• CDL license required.
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector certifications required.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience or vocational training with a specialization (engine, drive train).
• Must possess the necessary tools to perform the position.
• Strong customer relations and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled and complicated mechanical work on heavy-duty truck equipment and related components with minimal supervision.
• Troubleshoot major problems and diagnose repairs.
• Train Apprentice Technicians and share knowledge with the team.
• Maintain a neat, orderly work area and proper handling of company tools.
• Advise the Service Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
• Maintain favorable relations with customers and stakeholders.
• Participate in ongoing training to stay current with new technology.
• Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Diesel Service Journeyman / Mechanic. The role of the Diesel Service Journeyman / Mechanic performs all functions of a fully qualified heavy-duty truck repair Technician under minimal supervision.

• Performs skilled and complicated mechanical work on heavy-duty truck equipment and related components with minimum supervision.
• Performs trouble shooting on major problems.
• Works with and helps train Apprentice Technicians.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
• Advises the Service Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
• Maintains favorable relations with customers.
• Participates in training to stay abreast of new technology.
• Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
