Job summary

Torrey Holistics in Kankakee, IL is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to service gasoline and diesel powered buses. You will perform basic maintenance through full vehicle service, diagnose mechanical defects, and carry out preventive maintenance programs on school buses per DOT requirements.

Candidates should have medium duty bus experience, own a set of tools, knowledge of IDOT inspections, and ideally a CDL Class B with air brake endorsement and an A/C certification.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing medium-duty diesel buses or similar vehicles.
• Familiarity with IDOT inspections and pupil transportation codes.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Perform PMs and minor/major repairs on school buses.
• Diagnose defects and perform engine/transmission overhauls.
• Maintain brakes, HVAC, fuel, ignition, and electrical systems.
• Keep accurate time and material records.
