Job Description: Diesel/Pump Mechanic

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Pump Mechanic to join our team at Fischer-Bush Equipment, a leading water transfer pump rental company serving the oil and gas industry. The Pump Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of water transfer pumps and associated equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water transfer pumps, including hydraulic equipment, valves, compressors, motors, and controls.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime and ensure efficient operation.
  • Conduct inspections and tests to identify wear, damage, or potential malfunctions.
  • Replace or repair defective parts, such as blowout packing, seals, and bearings.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely and effective job execution.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior mechanics and other staff as needed.
  • Inspect and Diagnose: Evaluate diesel-powered pumps and related equipment to identify issues and maintenance needs.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform repairs, replacements, and routine maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other associated parts.
  • Emergency Response: Be available for field visits in case of sudden breakdowns or emergencies.
  • Test Driving: Test repaired vehicles to ensure proper functionality.
  • Fluid Changes: Conduct oil changes and other fluid-related tasks.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.

Requirements:

Mechanic I

  1. Be able to diagnose and repair engines from trouble codes.
  2. Be able to diagnose and replace major external components.
  3. Be able to diagnose and repair all brake and axle components.
  4. Be able to diagnose and replace complete trailer electrical system.
  5. Be able to diagnose and repair basic vac pump components.
  6. Be able to troubleshoot and repair no start and priming issues proficiently.
  7. Be able to flush mechanical seal oil and test for proper seal function.
  8. Be able to diagnose and repair pump end components.
  9. Be able to navigate the basics of diagnostic software.

Mechanic II

  1. Be able to diagnose, tear down, and repair pump end and components.
  2. Be able to troubleshoot, test and replace wiring harnesses.
  3. Be able to diagnose, repair, and rebuild turbos.
  4. Be able to troubleshoot and repair DPF system.
  5. Be able to diagnose, tear down, and repair vac pumps.
  6. Be able to diagnose and repair the venturi prime system.
  7. Be able to replace and program injectors.
  8. Be able to troubleshoot and repair rocker assemblies and components.
  9. Be able to thoroughly utilize diagnostic software.
