Job summary

Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) in Detroit, MI, is seeking a Mechanic to repair and maintain trucks and heavy equipment at Kee Container and Romulus locations. The role emphasizes safety, PPE, and reliable, hands-on maintenance.

You will diagnose and repair engines, brakes, suspensions, transmissions, and electrical systems; service air and electrical diagnostics; change tires; test vehicles; and perform general housekeeping.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
• Experience as a diesel mechanic; hydraulic systems experience preferred.
• Welding and torching experience preferred.
• Pre-employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain engines, brakes, suspensions, transmissions, and electrical systems on trucks and yard machinery.
• Conduct air system diagnostics and repair; perform electrical diagnostics and repairs.
• Inspect, lubricate, and service equipment per maintenance schedules; change flat tires.
• Make service calls on down trucks and procure parts as needed; test vehicles after repairs.
