Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines in Austell, GA is seeking a Diesel Mechanic/Technician C to inspect, repair and maintain our freight-handling equipment, including diesel tractors, city trucks, and forklifts.

You will troubleshoot failures, diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic issues, perform routine maintenance like lubrication, cooling tests, brake adjustments and tire inflation, and track work to meet schedules.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• ASE Certification and Diesel Engine Certification preferred.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• 6 months related experience and/or training requested.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair and maintain diesel equipment including tractors, city trucks and forklifts.
• Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose breakdowns and potential failures and perform repairs.
• Perform routine maintenance such as lubrication, cooling tests, brake adjustments and tire inflations.
• Track completed and uncompleted work to meet service schedules.

Job description

As a Diesel Mechanic/Technician C, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining all the equipment we use to transport and handle freight. Common equipment you will be working on include single and tandem axle diesel over-the-road and city tractors, diesel city straight trucks, and propane and diesel-powered industrial forklifts.

Track completed and uncompleted work to maintain adequate production in order to meet service schedule and customer commitments; Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis on the component parts and systems of trucks, tractors, converter gear, and forklifts; Diagnose any mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or other type of breakdown or potential failure; Perform routine maintenance such as lubrication, cooling system test, brake adjustments, and tire inflation; Repair or rebuild all or part of a system of assigned equipment as needed.

For this role, you will need to have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid Driver's License, at least 6 months related experience and/or training, and the ability to satisfactorily pass background check and alcohol and drug test. We would prefer you to have prior experience including Diesel Engine Repair, Automotive Diagnostics, Automotive Service, ASE Certification, Diesel Engine Certification. Pay: $33.00-$40.45 Per Hour (pay may vary based on location and experience)
