Job summary

Priefert Mfg. Co., Inc is seeking an experienced vehicle technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty trucks. You will prepare estimates, secure approvals, and perform repairs on brakes, suspensions, engines, A/C, fuel systems, and electrical components.

Candidates should have some computer-diagnostic training, be able to read wiring diagrams, and work with CAT, Cummins and Detroit engines. Strong multi-tasking and teamwork are required, with high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Has some training in computer diagnostics.
  • Able to use laptop, volt meter and read wiring diagrams with trouble shooting charts.

Responsibilities

  • Examine vehicles, compile estimates of repair, and secure approval to perform repairs.
  • Repair, overhaul, or adjust automobile brake systems.
  • Troubleshoot fuel, ignition, and emissions control systems, using electronic testing equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective ball joint suspensions, brake shoes, or wheel bearings.
  • Inspect and test vehicles for damage and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made.
  • Test electronic computer components in automobiles to ensure proper operation.
  • Tune automobile engines to ensure proper and efficient functioning.
  • Install or repair air conditioners and service components, such as compressors, condensers, and controls.
  • Repair, replace, or adjust defective fuel injectors, carburetor parts, and gasoline filters.
  • Remove and replace defective mufflers and tailpipes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Has some training in computer diagnostics.
  • Able to use laptop, volt meter and read wiring diagrams with trouble shooting charts.
  • Able to work on Cat, Cummins and Detroit.
  • Ability to diagnose, remove and replace wore parts on complete truck such as u-joints, kingpins, tie rod ends, drag links and suspension parts.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair manual and auto shift transmission and replace and adjust clutches.
  • Ability to trouble shoot A/C systems as needed.
  • Ability to trouble shoot air systems, retrieve ABS codes, repair, remove and replace brakes, drums and s-cams as needed.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and repair electrical systems such as wiring and lighting.
  • Ability to adjust valves in engine and perform internal work in engines.
  • Ability to work on more than one task at a time.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively with fellow employees.
  • Ability to perform repetitive work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Regular predictable attendance.
