Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines is seeking a Diesel Mechanic/Technician A to inspect, repair, and maintain our fleet of diesel and propane-powered equipment used to move freight throughout the Southeast.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and rebuilding components; you will track work orders, diagnose mechanical and electrical failures, and ensure safety and reliability of tractors, forklifts, and related gear.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • At least 6 months related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to satisfactorily pass background check and alcohol and drug test.
  • Prior experience including Diesel Engine Repair.
  • Automotive Diagnostics and Automotive Service proficiency.
  • ASE Certification and Diesel Engine Certification are preferred.

Job description

As a Diesel Mechanic/Technician A, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining all the equipment we use to transport and handle freight.

  • Common equipment you will be working on includes single and tandem axle diesel over-the-road and city tractors, diesel city straight trucks, and propane and diesel-powered industrial forklifts.
  • Track completed and uncompleted work to maintain adequate production in order to meet service schedule and customer commitments.
  • Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis on the component parts and systems of trucks, tractors, converter gear, and forklifts.
  • Diagnose any mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or other type of breakdown or potential failure.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as lubrication, cooling system test, brake adjustments, and tire inflation.
  • Repair or rebuild all or part of a system of assigned equipment as needed.

For this role, you will need to have the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • At least 6 months related experience and/or training

Pay: $33.00-$40.45 Per Hour (pay may vary based on location and experience)
