Job Description
Diesel Mechanic Technician
Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm
Salary: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Essential Job Functions
- Perform repair work and maintenance for diesel trucks, buses, and other diesel motor vehicles.
- Identify mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
- Perform tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensure that all critical parts are examined.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
- Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
- Perform further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.
- Excellent mechanical repair skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
- Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
- Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
- Ability to read service and repair manuals.
- Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
- Ability to read work orders.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Master technician certification.
- Three to five years of related experience required.
- Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to inspect vehicles to determine repairs needed.
- Having your own tools is required.
