A leading transportation provider in Memphis is seeking a Mechanic to ensure the safety and maintenance of their fleet. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience with various vehicle types and a valid driver's license. Qualifications

  • Perform maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, & transmissions.
  • Complete work orders and assist with mobile emergency services.
  • Ensure fleet vehicles are safe for road travel.

As a Technician at First Student, you will play an integral role in ensuring the safety of the children who rely on us for a ride to and from school in our classic yellow buses.

About First Student's Mechanic Position

Our technicians perform maintenance to ensure our fleet of newer vehicles is safe for road travel. They use diagnostic skills to troubleshoot issues needing repair. Your day will include:

  • Performing maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, & transmissions
  • Completing work orders
  • Assisting with mobile emergency services

Mechanics and technicians are subject to DOT drug testing as safety-sensitive employees. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.

You might be a fit for our Mechanic role if:

  • You want to work in a position that impacts your community
  • You have 5 years of experience with automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicles
  • You have a valid driver's license and are willing to obtain a CDL (training provided!)
  • You possess a mechanic's tool set
  • You want to grow and develop your skills through ASE testing
