Job summary

Shaw’s Distribution Center in Methuen, MA is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair refrigerated trailers and reefer units. You will diagnose Thermo King/Carrier systems, perform preventive maintenance, and support fleet reliability for grocery distribution.

The role requires 2+ years of heavy-duty repair experience; ASE and EPA 608 certifications are preferred, CDL may be required. A tool and boot allowance is provided along with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have minimum 2 years of experience in heavy duty tractor/trailer repair.
• May require valid DOT physical card and a CDL driver's license.
• 608 & 609 Refrigeration Certification preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency and maintenance software experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair refrigerated trailers and reefer units.
• Diagnose Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Support trailer and fleet reliability for grocery distribution operations.
• Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration equipment.
• Read electrical and refrigeration schematics.
• Identify warranty repairs and complete documentation; maintain OSHA-compliant workplace.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and fellow technicians.

Position Overview

• Maintain and repair refrigerated trailers and reefer units.
• Diagnose Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Support trailer and fleet reliability for grocery distribution operations.
• What You Will Do
• Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration equipment.
• Read electrical and refrigeration schematics.
• Identify warranty repairs and complete documentation. Maintain a clean, safe, OSHA-compliant work environment.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and fellow technicians.

Qualifications

• Truck, trailer, reefer, diesel, or HVAC experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
• Ability to obtain EPA Section 608 Certification.
• Ability to obtain ASE Heavy Truck Certification.
• Basic computer proficiency and maintenance software experience preferred.

What We Are Searching For

• Must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in heavy duty tractor/trailer repair. May require valid DOT physical card and a CDL driver's license.
• May need certification in the use of refrigerants and recycling equipment
• Ability to work full-time with the ability to work any shift.
• ASE Certifications
• PA State Inspection License a plus.
• 608 & 609 Refrigeration Certification

Salary

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range.
