Overview:
We are seeking ahighly skilled Diesel Mechanicto join our dedicated maintenance team at the railyard. In this essential role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining themechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systemson a fleet ofsemi-trucks, trailers, and hostler vehicles. You will ensure all equipment is kept in top working condition by performing regular maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and ensuring safety standards are met at all times.
Inspect, diagnose, and repairdiesel engines (Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit) to maintain optimal performance.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systemsusing schematics, ensuring all wiring and components are functioning correctly.
Performpreventive maintenanceon tractors, trailers, and hostler trucks to minimize downtime.
Conductfull vehicle assessmentsand executetimely repairson both scheduled and unscheduled service calls.
Maintain detailed service recordsof work completed, parts replaced, and maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with safety and company standards.
Monitor and adhere to routine maintenance schedules, making sure all equipment receives necessary attention on time.
Communicatefindings and repair needseffectively with the maintenance supervisor and team to prioritize and allocate resources appropriately.
1–3years of experienceworking as a diesel mechanic, with experience on semi-trucks, trailers, or hostler vehicles.
Ability to work withschematicsand troubleshoot electrical issues effectively.
Familiarity withmaintenance scheduling systemsand keeping accurate service records.
Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills
Experience with hostlers and forklifts is a plus
Experience with electric trucks is a plus
Knowledge of all diesel engine systems, including fuel, electrical, cooling, and exhaust
Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions
Must own necessary tools for the job
ASE Certification or equivalent is a plus
Experience withCaterpillar,Cummins, andDetroitdiesel engines.
Experience withhostler trucksandterminal tractors.
Welding or fabrication skillsa plus.
Experience working in anintermodal yardorrail yardenvironment.
