Job summary

Express Employment Professionals of Columbia is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to assemble, maintain, and repair machinery and vehicles. The role requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work with diverse machines and tools while adhering to safety guidelines.

You will build, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical systems, ensuring reliability and functionality. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this on-site

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components.
• Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools.
• Ability to read instructions, blueprints, and follow established procedures.
• Strong commitment to health and safety guidelines.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Good physical strength and stamina.
• High school diploma preferred; vocational certification or apprenticeship is a definite plus.
• Valid ASE certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble mechanical components according to requirements.
• Inspect machines, engines, transmissions, etc., and run diagnostic tests to identify issues.
• Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
• Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them promptly.
• Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.
• Clean and lubricate machinery components.
• Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery.
• Provide guidance on proper maintenance and preventive measures to users.
• Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g., hydraulic systems repair, painting vehicles).
• Keep logs of work and report issues.
