Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America in Greeley, CO is seeking a proactive Maintenance Mechanic to service trucks and trailers, perform preventive maintenance, and diagnose issues to keep equipment on the road.

You will respond to repair requests, conduct inspections per DOT, and operate welding equipment as needed, with a night shift schedule (2 PM–12:30 AM) and potential overtime. A high school diploma and mechanic experience are required, with CDL or mechanic cert preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 to 4 years of mechanic, maintenance, or related experience.
• CDL license or mechanic certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to maintenance requests from drivers, safety coordinator, DOT coordinator, shop foreperson, transportation supervisor, and fleet manager.
• Maintains and repairs trucks and trailers to be in proper operating condition according to DOT specifications.
• Conducts periodic inspections, diagnoses problems, and eliminates unsafe operating conditions.
• Performs annual vehicle inspection and admissions tests in compliance with state regulations.
• Operates arc and mig weld equipment.

Overview:

Schedule:

Anticipated Night Shift Schedule 2PM -12:30AM (4: 10-hour shifts-- Wednesday thru Saturday), potential for overtime. Rotating on call schedule.

General Purpose:

Perform the majority of truck and/or trailer maintenance and repairs, ensuring that equipment is available and in optimal operating condition, while working under minimal supervision. Work with the assistance of other mechanics or supervisors when performing highly technical or intricate diagnostic repairs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Education and Experience:

• Certification and/or License - Mechanic certification, CDL license, or other relevant certifications or licenses may be required. Must have a valid Driver's License.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must be able to read and understand driver inspection reports
• Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Must be able to provide and use personal hand tools appropriate for working on heavy equipment
• Must have knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Must be able to lift 75 lbs
• Must be able to pass a physical demands analysis
