We are seeking Night Shift Diesel Mechanics for our Allentown, PA location.

Overview

Mechanics perform routine and complex maintenance and repair services, and troubleshoot a wide variety of fleet vehicles under DOT and company regulations. In this role, the person will also perform preventive fleet maintenance and diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic systems to identify root causes of fluctuating failures/conditions.

Responsibilities

To perform the mechanic job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

• Work under limited supervision and select from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Perform repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
• Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisition new parts.
• Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Conduct safety checks on vehicles.
• Complete required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Vehicle Conditioning Reports.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age (students enrolled in technical trade school are encouraged to apply).
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist others.
• Must be able to work in a dusty, greasy environment, with moderate noise and cold and hot temperature ranges.
• Must be able to follow all required work safe practices.
• Must have own tools (students/apprenticeships will be provided a $1000 Tool Box by the company).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in preventive maintenance of Cummins & Detroit engines.
• Experience with AC and Electrical systems.
• Ability to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends, when necessary.

Schedule and Compensation

• Salary: $70K - $100K with bonus based on experience.
• Schedule: 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM.
