Job summary

C1 Truck Service in Joliet, IL is seeking a dedicated diesel mechanic to maintain and repair heavy-duty engines and related systems. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and communicate repair status with management to ensure DOT compliance and fleet readiness.

The role requires 3+ years in diesel mechanics, tools on hand, and a customer-focused approach. We offer full-time hours, a 45-hour week, and benefits including paid holidays, retirement plan, and 401k.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years verified diesel mechanic experience; 5+ years for advanced roles.
Proficient with diagnostic tools and computers.
Valid driver's license required; CDL advantageous.
State/ASE certifications valued; own personal tools required.
Cummins certifications are a bonus.
Strong customer service orientation in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair brakes, steering, electrical, cooling, transmissions, and drive trains.
Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes and DOT inspections.
Use diagnostic software to troubleshoot engine and system malfunctions.
Repair radiators, alternators, turbochargers, sensors, starters, DPF, HVAC components.
Contribute to bodywork tasks and fifth wheel/transmission work as needed.
Test drive to verify repairs and respond to road calls for on-site service.
