Description

Objective

Mack Industries is looking for a Diesel Mechanic to join our Akron, Ohio Ready Mix Maintenance team. In this position, one will be responsible for the maintenance of our fleet that includes ready mix mixers and trucks, semis, company vehicles, and heavy equipment such as forklifts. This position is required to perform annual inspections, maintain proper records as well as maintain a safe, organized shop area.

Make up to $35/hr based on experience!

Essential Functions

  • Perform fleet repairs, address drive-ability issues, perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Maintain equipment integrity and operational by maintaining a routine maintenance schedule for each piece of the company fleet.
  • Perform repairs and replacements of fleet that includes but not limited to engines, transmissions, steering, hydraulic, braking, lighting, and electrical systems.
  • Make road calls on disabled company vehicles and perform repair on the road.
  • Complete annual maintenance and as needed repairs to all company fleet vehicles, small and heavy equipment.
  • Maintain the appearance of the company fleet through routine maintenance that includes cleaning, washing, and painting.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and tools.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a diesel mechanic required, education can replace.
  • Concrete Mixer maintenance and repair experience a plus.
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting engine malfunctions and fault codes.
  • Strong hydraulic and electrical skills.
  • CDL is a plus but not required.
  • Proficient in diesel maintenance and repairs.
  • ASCE Certified preferred not required.
  • Skilled at driving oversized vehicles required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong mathematics and science abilities a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Environment Conditions and Physical Strain

  • Construction environment, seasonal weather conditions, Maintenance Shop environment.
  • Due to the nature of the operation, the levels of noise, dust and dirt can be high.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., on occasion.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to squat, crawl, climb and kneel to complete tasks.
