Job summary

Seven Lakes Contracting & Asphalt is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to support our West End, NC fleet. This hands-on role keeps heavy equipment running at peak performance and ensures timely project progress.

You will diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks and construction machinery, perform preventive maintenance, and document service activities. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of diesel/H.E. repair experience and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on diesel mechanic or heavy equipment repair experience.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and drivetrain components.
• Experience with construction or asphalt equipment (pavers, rollers, excavators, dump trucks) preferred.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools, scan tools, and standard mechanical hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered trucks, heavy equipment, and construction machinery.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
• Inspect and troubleshoot engine, transmission, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems using hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections to ensure fleet safety and compliance.
• Maintain accurate service records and document all repairs and maintenance performed.
• Coordinate with operations team to minimize equipment downtime and keep projects on schedule.
