Energy Jobline ZR is seeking a Standard Diesel Mechanic to perform repair and maintenance on over-the-road semi-trucks, trailers and diesel vehicles in Rochelle, IL.

The role emphasizes diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and component replacement (Cummins/Detroit Diesel, Freightliner, Carrier, Thermo King). ASE Diesel Certification, CDL, and strong diagnostic skills are required; owning tools is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (Optional).
• ASE Diesel Certification.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL) required.
• Aptitude for mathematics and science.
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
• Good IT and diagnostic skills with Cummins/Freightliner systems.
• Physically capable of lifting 100–150 lbs.
• Proficient with maintenance and repair tools.
• Attention to detail.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must own tools for the trade.

Responsibilities

• Run diagnostic tests on trucks, including refrigeration systems.
• Analyze diagnostic test results.
• Replace steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.
• Check vehicle lighting systems.
• Test drive vehicles to gauge performance.
• Perform preventative maintenance on semi-trucks.
• Maintain detailed service records.
• Follow inspection procedure checklists.
• Ensure shop cleanliness.
• Work on Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Freightliner, Carrier, and Thermo King units.
• Limited trailer body work and suspension work.
• Weld aluminum and iron.

Job Summary

The Standard Diesel Mechanic will perform repair work and maintenance for over the road semi-trucks, trailers, and other diesel vehicles.

Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities

• Running diagnostic tests on trucks, including refrigeration systems
• Analyzing diagnostic test results
• Replacing steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems
• Checking vehicle lighting systems
• Test driving vehicles to gauge performance
• Performing preventative maintenance on semi-trucks
• Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop
• Most of our work is Cummins and Detroit Diesel and Freightliner Carrier and Thermo King refrigerated units
• We do some trailer body work, but extremely limited
• We work on trailer suspensions, dolly legs, etc.
• Welding – both aluminum and iron

Diesel Mechanic Requirements
