Nova Lines is seeking a skilled Fleet Diesel Mechanic in the Bridgeview, IL region to maintain and repair our fleet of trucks and trailers. The successful candidate will diagnose mechanical and electrical systems, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure safety and reliability of equipment.

Training is available for the right candidate who shows drive and independence. Requires 2+ years of diesel experience, Class A CDL, and ability to lift 50+ lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a mechanic.
• Class A CDL license is required
• Familiarity with Cummins and Detroit Motors is preferred
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work independently

Responsibilities

• Inspect and diagnose mechanical and electrical systems of vehicles.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on engines, transmissions, steering, brakes, cooling, exhaust, and electrical systems.
• Repair or replace worn, damaged, or malfunctioning parts and systems.
• Conduct diagnostic tests and ensure complete repairs.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts and request supplies as needed.

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Fleet Diesel Mechanic to help maintain and repair our fleet of trucks and trailers. This role is essential in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel mechanics and maintenance, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently. We are willing to provide training for the right candidate who is eager to learn, grow, and perform at a high level.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect and diagnose mechanical and electrical systems of vehicles.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance (RPM) on engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and electrical components.
• Repair or replace worn, damaged, or malfunctioning parts and systems.
• Conduct diagnostic tests and ensure the completeness of repairs.
• Maintain accurate inventory of spare parts and request supplies as needed.
• Operate power tools and perform physical tasks including lifting (50+ lbs), climbing ladders, bending, and heavy lifting activities as required.
• Safely drop and hook trailers and operate trucks within company property.
• Maintain a clean, organized shop environment and follow all safety protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required).
• Class A CDL license .
• Ability to drop and hook trailers and safely operate trucks on company property.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a mechanic (required).
• Diesel engine repair experience: 2 years (required).
• Mechanical knowledge: 3 years (required).
• Familiarity with Cummins and Detroit Motors ().
• Mechanic certification or journeyman’s license ( but not required).
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
• Background check required prior to employment.
