Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and repair on diesel tractors and trailers to ensure compliance with all DOT regulations and safety standards
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, electrical issues, brake and tire problems, and perform welding/fabrication as needed
- Monitor and manage fleet maintenance costs and implement cost-saving measures
- Serve as on-call mechanic for breakdowns within a 100-mile radius of the facility
- Work independently and proactively to maintain high standards of fleet safety, readiness, and reliability
- Document all maintenance and repairs accurately and maintain service records
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of diesel mechanic experience, including diagnostics, hydraulics, welding, and electrical systems
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle compliance
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and resolve breakdowns quickly
- Clean driving record required
- CDL Class A license is a plus, but not required
- Strong work ethic with a safety-first mindset
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends when necessary
