Job summary

Florida Detroit Diesel Allison seeks a skilled Marine Field Technician to diagnose and repair vessel engines, propulsion systems, and electronics either dockside or at customer sites at sea.

The role requires 3–7 years of related experience, a valid driver's license, and a diesel certification. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and Microsoft Office is preferred. Travel to customer locations may be required to support repair work.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose problems with customer's equipment at dock or at sea.
  • Identify and order parts needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform complex/major repairs on engines, propulsion, electronics, and subassemblies.
  • Carry out routine maintenance per guidelines and schedules.
  • Complete work orders and time sheets accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with safety standards.
  • Assist junior Marine Field Service Technicians as needed.

Job description

Overview

Responsible for diagnosing problems and performing complex and/or major mechanical repairs on the customer's vessel, at dock or sea on customer's equipment including engines, engine components, propulsion systems, electronics and subassemblies.


Responsibilities


  • Accurately troubleshoot and diagnose all problems with customer's equipment.

  • Identify and order parts necessary to complete repairs and routine maintenance.

  • Perform complex and/or major repairs on customer's equipment. Replace parts and equipment as necessary.

  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment according to established guidelines and schedules.

  • Complete all work orders and time sheets in a legible, accurate and timely manner.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Perform all work in accordance with established quality standards and safety procedures.

  • Assist lower-level Marine Field Service Technicians in completing work assignments as necessary.

Education/Experience:



  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and three to seven years related experience required.

  • Clean driving record and valid Driver's License required.


Computer Skills:



  • Basic computer navigation and utilization skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.


Certificates & Licenses:



  • Technical certification in automotive and/or diesel engine repair required. Prior experience with diesel engine repair and rebuild required.

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the position, location, and/or customer.
