Transdev in Augusta, Maine is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic B to diagnose and repair commercial vehicles, ensuring safety, reliability and timeliness. You will perform inspections, engine and driveline work, electrical systems, brakes and hydraulic repairs, and collaborate with customers and teammates to deliver high-quality service while maintaining standards and certifications.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of three years direct automotive repair experience.
• Experience monitoring and meeting PM schedules and operating repair shop equipment.
• Possess an appropriate mechanic’s tool set.
• Excellent communication skills with customers, peers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle repairs.
• Remove, clean, repair, reinstall and adjust vehicle components.
• Repair and diagnose engines and emission components.
• Work on driveline, electrical, brakes, suspension, exhaust, hydraulics parts.
• Ensure work orders are completed and actions are appropriate.

Diesel Mechanic B

Transdev in Augusta, Maine is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic B to bolster our team. This position requires the level of knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and repair commercial vehicles and equipment. This individual must have the ability to effectively work and communicate with employees and customers. Requirements include daily safety inspections, minimal reworks, and maintaining production standards. Particular attention will be on timeliness and quality of repairs. As a Technician III, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our assets.

Compensation

• Competitive compensation package of minimum $24.50 – Maximum $30.00 / Hour

Major Responsibilities

• Diagnose and accurately perform all phases of vehicle repairs

• Communicate professionally with customers, team members and supervisors
• Actively participate in safety or educational training as required
• Continuous ASE/EVT re-certification is required to remain in job classification
• Other responsibility as requested or required

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a high school diploma, or equivalent
• Must have a valid driver’s license. A CDL license is strongly preferred
• Minimum of three (3) years direct automotive repair experience
• Must have demonstrated experience monitoring and meeting PM schedules and operating automotive repair shop equipment
• Must have an appropriate mechanic’s tool set
• Must have excellent communication skills, bringing demonstrated abilities of building solid relationships with superiors, peers, and subordinates
• Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason

Physical Requirements

• The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
• Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting of light and heavy objects, climbing ladders/stairs/ramps or scaffolding, and using tools and equipment that require a high degree of manual dexterity
• Required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel, talk, hear, to reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and smell. Must be able to lay on back on a mechanic’s dolly to work underneath motor vehicle equipment
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise
