Job summary

Colorado Portables is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to join a growing team. You will perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and equipment both in the shop and in the field, with a strong focus on safety and quality workmanship.

The role requires experience on heavy-duty systems, strong troubleshooting, welding/fabrication skills, and the ability to work independently. CDL and ASE certifications are preferred but not required. Earn $40 per hour with benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience on heavy-duty trucks or related equipment.
• Ability to diagnose and repair suspension, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics.
• Experience with vacuum pump trucks and tanker truck maintenance preferred.
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
• Brake certification is required.
• ASE certifications and CDL are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks in shop and field.
• Maintain knowledge in chassis, refuse bodies, HVAC, diesel engines, drivetrain, and systems.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools.
• Complete inspections and preventive maintenance per safety guidelines.
• Maintain repair documentation.
• Participate in training to stay current with industry advancements.
• Perform other duties to support fleet operations.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and equipment both in the shop and in the field.
• Maintain advanced knowledge and proficiency in the repair and maintenance of:
  • Chassis components
  • Refuse bodies, including hydraulic, electrical, and control systems
  • Air and hydraulic brake systems
  • Diesel engines
  • Suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems
  • Heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems
  • Preventive and line maintenance
  • Welding and fabrication repairs
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using a variety of electronic diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Complete inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs in accordance with company standards and safety guidelines.
• Maintain accurate service and repair documentation.
• Participate in company-provided training to enhance technical knowledge and stay current with industry advancements.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support fleet operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks, commercial vehicles, or related equipment.
• Ability to independently inspect, diagnose, and repair some or all of the following systems:
  • Suspension and Steering
  • Diesel Engines
  • Transmissions
  • Brakes (Air and Hydraulic)
  • Electrical Systems
  • Hydraulic Systems
  • Drivetrain Components
  • Diesel Emissions Systems
• Experience performing maintenance and repairs on vacuum pump trucks is highly preferred.
• Experience with tanker truck maintenance and repair is preferred.
• Welding and fabrication experience is highly preferred.
• Brake certification is required.
• ASE Heavy Truck Certifications are preferred but not required.
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to work independently.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 75-100 pounds.
• Must be able to work in all types of weather.
• Must be able to stretch, pull, climb, and crawl as required to access units.

Job Pay

$40.00 - $40.00 per hour
