Job summary

J.P. Mascaro & Sons, doing business as The Brooke County Landfill, seeks a Diesel Mechanic-Heavy Equipment to lead the maintenance shop and diagnose/repair heavy equipment typical of a landfill site.

Candidate will supervise mechanics and handle daily repair activities, preventive maintenance, and cost estimation to ensure safety and performance. The role requires expertise in electrical, diesel, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, with a focus on plant equipment reliability and OSHA safety

Qualifications

• Extensive diagnostic and repair experience for heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical, diesel, mechanical and hydraulic systems.
• Experience supervising mechanics and coordinating maintenance work.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematic diagrams and repair manuals.
• Experience establishing preventive maintenance intervals and cost estimates.
• Strict adherence to safety procedures (OSHA).

Responsibilities

• Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems in heavy equipment.
• Rebuild, replace or repair engines, brakes, transmission lines and electrical assemblies.
• Establish preventive maintenance intervals and schedule work accordingly.
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and manuals.
• Inspect equipment, identify worn parts and provide cost estimates.
• Supervise and coordinate mechanics; assign repairs and monitor completion.
• Coordinate outside repairs when shop work is unavailable.
• Maintain parts inventories and requisition as needed.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
