Diesel Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic 100% Travel

$28 - $38 DOE

Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Field Mechanic who brings with them a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire to contribute to the overall success of a great team.

The Field Mechanic is responsible for diagnosis, repair and preventative maintenance of a large fleet of earthmoving equipment. This includes troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic defects on equipment such as excavators, loaders, trenchers, forklifts, and more.

Job Duties:

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations when performing work assignments.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on all fleet equipment.
  • Make mechanical repairs to equipment after completion of inspection and analysis of breakdown.
  • Record complete repair description on work order, including the correct model and the serial number of equipment and record hour meter reading.
  • Lubricate moving parts and operates repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain the professional image of self and service truck by focusing on cleanliness and presentation.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record and follow all rules and regulations related to having a CDL
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age, as required by the Spriggs company insurance policy.
  • Technical School Certificate and 2 years of related work experience or 5 years of related work experience.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Demonstrated history of safe, reliable work habits
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair heavy earthmoving equipment
  • Working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel extensively, including overnight

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work for long periods of time performing tasks that may require repetitive lifting, standing, kneeling, sitting, grasping, twisting, and climbing stairs/ladders.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when required
  • Ability to lift of up to 60 pounds
