Job Description - Diesel Mechanic - Fleet Technician - Ready-Mix - $1500 Sign-On Bonus - Newport News Shop (250000MD)

What You’ll Do:
  1. Promote Safety: Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Follow all safety, lock out tag out, and environmental rules and procedures.
  2. Repair and Maintain Mobile Equipment: Service, repair, adjust, maintain, and test Concrete Ready Mix Trucks and support equipment. Perform routine preventative maintenance such as lubricating, adjustments, failure analysis, and corrective actions for repairs. Repair hydraulic hoses, lighting, brakes, suspension, and AC work. Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
  3. Inspect Equipment and Material: Inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot the cause of errors. Diagnose defects and perform repairs to address problems when necessary.
  4. Create Work Orders: Create work orders on all repairs and services, providing legible and accurate information for all work performed.
  5. Communicate: Communicate with personnel to ensure proper, safe, and preventative vehicle maintenance.
  6. Use Equipment: Use various equipment, such as cutting torch, air and hand tools, jacks, grinders, and drill press.
  7. Perform General Physical Activities: Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  8. Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.
Skills You’ll Need:
  1. Experience: Previous experience in the mechanical field is required.
  2. Certifications: MED HVY Truck ASE Certification is preferred.
  3. Communication Skills: Must be able to read memos, instructions, and communicate verbally with fellow employees to solve problems.
  4. Basic Math Skills: Must be able to add, subtract, and know basic units of measurement.
  5. Flexibility: Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Hourly Range: The hourly range for this role is between $22.21 - $32.18. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package.
