Key Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance and skilled repairs on gasoline and diesel-powered engines, including overhauls, brakes, suspension, clutches, and electrical systems.
• Operate a preventive maintenance program, keeping accurate records of all work completed.
• Repair and maintain power tools and equipment, such as compressors, jackhammers, and lawn equipment.
• Manage parts inventory and prepare detailed repair logs and maintenance records.
• Support snow removal, sanding, plowing, and emergency road operations, especially during the winter season.
• Ensure safety compliance, maintain a daily log, and update the DPW Maintenance Management System regularly.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma or GED

• Technical/vocational training in automotive or diesel mechanics

• Minimum 5 years of experience in gas and diesel engine repair

• Strong diagnostic skills and experience with mechanical tools

Preferred (Nice to Have):

• CDL Class B with air brake endorsement

• Hoisting license
